Sakura Study

Dr. Pauline Merrill and her research team were announced as the #1 recruiting site in the world(out of 149 eligible sites!) for the SAKURA study.
The SAKURA study is a A Phase III, Multinational, Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Masked, Study for the Treatment of Active, Non-Infectious Uveitis.  Uveitis is swelling of the middle later of the eye, which is called the “uvea”.  Uveitis is a rare condition and it is classified based on the location of the inflammation.  Phase III will evaluate the investigational drug sirolimus for the treatment of non infectious posterior uveitis.

 

 

Chicago Ophthalmological Society

Congratulations to Dr.  Mathew MacCumber who is currently serving as President-Elect of the Chicago Ophthalmological Society. On July 1, 2015, he will become President of the COS. The Chicago Ophthalmological Society was established in 1838 and is devoted to advancing educational opportunities for ophthalmologist’s in the area. The most respected ophthalmologist’s in the country are members of this society. Well done Dr. MacCumber!

Chicagoland Vision Walk

The 10th Annual Chicagoland Vision Walk will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at Busse Woods in Elk Grove Village, IL. Since the Vision walks began in 2006, over $35 million has been raised to fund sight-saving research. More than 10 million Americans are affected by blinding retinal diseases. Dr. Vivek Chaturvedi will be serving as Medical Chair for the event this year and once again, Manager Lynn Ruiz will serve as captain for the Illinois Retina team, Fight for Sight! Senior Fair 2015

The Village of North Riverside is hosting a Senior Fair on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 10am-noon. Chicagoland Vison Walk

Over 900 participants attended the Vision Walk! The weather was beautiful and the event was a success! They are confident that they will reach their goal of $335,000.  They appreciate everyone’s support.

Irwin Retina Center

The Irwin Retina located at Ingalls Memorial Hospital and Illinois Retina Associates, S.C. in Harvey, IL have received an “excellent” rating. This is based on patient surveys from January 2014 through March 2014. New Fellow

Illinois Retina Associates is happy to announce our newest fellow to the practice, Michael McClintock, MD. He has been chosen through San Francisco Match, a matching program that is designed to coordinate the processing, distribution and review of applicants for post graduate medical education training.  Dr. McClintock has accepted a two year fellowship and will be working side by side with several of our Physicians. We are very excited for Dr. McClintock to join our Illinois Retina Family!
