Omar Dajani, MD – Fellow
In conjunction with Rush University Medical Center, Illinois Retina Associates has committed to educating future retina specialists through our vitreoretinal fellowship program since 1987.
Omar Dajani, MD, first realized his interest in ophthalmology as a medical student in Arkansas when he saw the profound impact that medical disease could have on the eyes. From diabetes to rare systemic infections, he quickly found that the eyes could not only be affected by any disease, but that they were often overlooked despite the importance of vision on patients’ lives.
Born and raised in Edina, MN, Dr. Dajani graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. He then worked for a year in national and international marketing at Medtronic, learning many aspects of the business side of medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, AR where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Tufts / New England Eye Center in Boston, MA, serving as Chief Resident in his final year. He is currently completing his vitreo-retinal surgery fellowship at Illinois Retina Associates and Rush University Medical Center.
Dr. Dajani has co-authored several peer-reviewed research articles and case reports and has given presentations at many local and national meetings. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, ASRS, ASCRS, ARVO, and the Chicago Ophthalmological Society.
In his free time, Dr. Dajani enjoys discovering the different museums, parks, restaurants, and many other attractions Chicago has to offer. He also likes to spend his time exploring the outdoors with his significant other and their three rescue dogs.
