Congratulations to Drs. MacCumber, Minaker and Shepherd on being published in this month's Ophthalmology Retina!
Their article "Risk of Proliferative Vitreoretinopathy in the Second Eye in Adult Patients with Bilateral Retinal Detachment" discusses their study where they found that patients with a history of history of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) in one eye were 3.5 times more likely to develop PVR after a detachment in their fellow eye. This is a potential patient population that would be ideal to treat with prophylactic anti-PVR treatments or medications.
