Illinois Retina Associates Physicians Participate in RCA National Leadership Meeting
Four Illinois Retina Associates physicians—Drs. Vivek Chaturvedi, Ryan Sabherwal, Annie Shepherd, and Sohail Hasan—participated in discussions at the Retina Consultants of America (RCA) Business and Medical Leadership Board Meeting, held October 22–23, 2026, in Chicago.
Dr. Vivek Chaturvedi moderated a panel discussion titled “Physician Development Program Update,” featuring Drs. Naryan Sabherwal and Annie Shepherd among the panelists. The discussion highlighted the importance of supporting physicians’ professional growth, mentorship, and leadership development within retina practices.
Immediately following that session, Sohail Hasan MD, PhD, FACS, FASRS, FRCSC participated in a panel discussion titled “RCA DC Fly-InRecap,” moderated by RCA CEO Robby Grabow and featuring fellow panelists Dr. Joel Pearlman and Kramer Schmidt.
The panel reflected on the September 2026 advocacy visit to Washington, D.C., during which participating retina specialists met with lawmakers and congressional staff to discuss patient access to specialty care, continued cuts to Medicare reimbursement, and federal support for vision research. The discussion emphasized the importance of physicians bringing their firsthand clinical experience to healthcare policy conversations.
Together, the two sessions highlighted the contributions of Illinois Retina Associates physicians to professional development, physician leadership, and advocacy efforts that extend beyond their daily clinical responsibilities.
